Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about how DealScore works, what data we use, and what to expect from your report.
What data do you use?+
Public Ontario open data — floodplains, municipal records, police open data, transit feeds, and (pending licensing) provincial assessment data. No private databases, no guesswork.
How accurate is the Safe Buy Score?+
Every block is sourced and dated. We show the raw data behind each score so you can verify it yourself.
Does this replace a home inspection?+
No. DealScore covers location and neighbourhood risk. A licensed inspector covers physical condition — roof, plumbing, foundation. Get both.
Which areas do you cover?+
All of Ontario, Canada. Other provinces and U.S. markets are on the roadmap.
Can I get a refund?+
If our data coverage fails for your address, yes — full refund within 14 days. Otherwise reports are final once delivered.
Do I need an account?+
No signup. Pay with Stripe, receive your report by email. Magic-link login if you want to revisit past reports.
Why might my score differ from an earlier check on the same property?+
A small number of checks — including Air Quality (AQHI) — reflect live, real-time data that changes between report runs. Two reports generated hours apart on the same address can differ by a few points for this reason. All other data is frozen at generation time and recorded in the report header.
How current is the data in my report?+
It depends on the source. Most indicators — including Air Quality (AQHI) — are updated in real time or near-real time. Some sources, like school rankings and demographic data, are refreshed annually. Others — including certain transit and crime statistics — update every 7 days. We continuously monitor all sources and update our integrations when new data is published.
